Lists of things you wish Secondlife and Opensim would fix or improve

LSL Scripting

Time and time again i find things i wish worked as advertized or worked slightly diferently in a more robust way. At times the LSL scripting lanuage seems to have been rushed, done half assed, or generialy not thought out very well for it intended use. Though i do not beleive that outright replacement of the language is justified i do beleive that at some point some parts should be redone and done right. Since i have the eyes and ears of quite a few Opensim devs and Opensim is where your most likly to see such work to happen, i would like to gather up a list of Issues with the LSL scripting language and make them avaliable to anyone to see. Here is your chance to have some input into what is so horably wrong with LSL. Add your sugestions in the coments of this article and i will gather them up to include in the list.

Who is copying who?

LSL Scripting

I find it funny that now LL is copying Opensim OSSL Functions. ....And to think, you thought it was the other way around.

for instance llGetAgentList vs osGetAgents . They also have cloned osTeleportAgent and a few others.  Makes you wonder how much opensim code has made it into SL. This also is an indication of how much Opensim is a threat to LL.

One thing i find to be a common misconception is that any one can throw up a few Opensim servers and sudenly have a RL business making tons of cash. This is so far from the truth of the matter that it pains me greatly when i see a grid start up only to see it fold a few weeks to a few months after. (more below.....)

Lots of people say a lot of things about the various non LL grids popping up, usually not good. but most of them don't realize just how tenuous the grid they call home called Second Life really is.  Second Life can fall just like anything else.
